Gk Sunroof
ahh, somehow the GKs must have really heavy sunroofs.. cuz ours are pretty light, and not even as much as they say they will lose in weight on the regular version of the CF sunroof..
maybe where you got your car painted didn't do a good job.. cuz i have never had any problems..
i wouldn't say 300$ to save 3lbs is a good price, but to each is own.

if anyone wanted to do diy carbon fiber, this would be probibly the easyest thing to do on the car...
just take ur sunroof out, make a mold, and lay the epoxy and fiber! (quickest diy ever) rolleyes.gif

yeah, but doing an overlay would be easier. fing02.gif
and most people wouldn't want to invest the money and time to make a mold and stuff.. plus without vacuum bagging theres a big chance of bubbles and whatnot.
not even CLOSE to the quickest DIY. it would take hours to do it right.

Definitley would take awhile to get perfect, especially if you want even, non-dry looking fiber, like the VIS hoods and you can see yourself in it. Hmmmmmm maybe a new project to do before nopi.

Yeah, I'm with socks. Did you ever see my DIY Burnout? That's a 1.115154 second DIY.
How do you make a mold anyways?
akay guys my father works with fiberglass and resins everyday doing stuff like this and this is what he told me.
easy way to make mold:either lay tape all over the part, then put fiberglass cloth on and lay polyester resin on top of that.
a quick and easy way to make "carbon" replacements. make a mold of the inside and outside of the part, combine those 2 molds again, and wrap with carbon fiber. its not a genuine full carbon fiber hood but looks like it and is liter then stock.
and he said you put the condon fiber cloth down and then lay epoxy resin, must be apoxy because it dries clear. this would suffice, and will look good, but does not stand the test of time compared to genuine vacuumed carbon fibered parts.
