It will probably bulge a CF hood. When you put a CF hood on a BMW, you have to depressurize the hood struts and use a prop because the pressure from the struts can cause the middle of the hood (between the hinges and catch) to lift

I'm a friggin moron.

Look at the auction again. The brackets, those go over the bolts on the hinges, no drilling required.

I'll try these fo SHO on my RD2 as soon as I can buy a set. I'm not too worried about my CF hood it's got a sturdy center latch, but I don't see how these, at the corners, could bulge your hood.

i dont like the idea of my cf hood being pushed up from one side. it's light as all hell, but the weight of itself alone would cause major stressing at the hinge areas, probably enough to crack it.

Oh, I'd for SURE check and see how strong the struts are first.

Someone contact the seller and see if they know how strong them b****es are.

If you check the seller's store, he sells damper kits for CF hoods as well. There isn't one for a tiburon, but I have a feeling the product is the same for all (most?) cars - the pictures with the pieces before installation is the same in all auctions..
Should def. ask before bidding on one for another model though smile.gif

just to shed a little light on this..

we just put my old CF hood on dans car. we used my 4$ harbour freight rivet gun. it took about 2 minutes of measuring and about 1 minute of actual work. the way the hood struts go up are a slow travel and when it gets to the top, it slows down, kinda like a screen door when it comes close to closing.

the hood doesn't FLY up like some people said in a previous thread. theres not a TON of power to the redline hood struts so it goes up fine but doesn't FORCE it up.

these kits WILL not be a direct bolt on, at least on any rd2. we don't have that 'stock hole' that the strut bolts to.

and you wouldn't be riveting, bolting, screwing anything to your CF, since the bottom of the hood isn't CF anyway, lol. and your never going to take them off (theres no reason to) so what would 4 little rivets matter, it looks stock.

also, rivets are SUPER easy to get out, just get a drill bit about the size of the head, about 30 seconds of drilling, and out the rivet comes.

^^^
Doesn't matter, I'm not bolting/riveting/supergluing anything to the FG subframe of my hood either.

LOL

And yeah, we've got the same bolt holes as the RD1, otherwise we couldnt' use the same fenders. Look at the pics again, one side goes into an EXISTING bolt hole where the fender attaches. The OTHER side connects to the included bracket, which is held on at the hood HINGE with the hinge bolts, so there's no drilling of anything, no modification. We have the same hinges as the RD1's, so it would work perfectly. I'm just trying to get the seller to answer a question, then I'm buying a set.

yeah, itll mount to the HINGE, with no drilling, but where it mounts to the engine bay, there IS NO HOLE to mount to. these will not be able to be installed without drilling of some kind.

do me a favor, go outside, and pop your hood. now look at the picture. then look at the fender lip, they are not the same. there is not that weird little jog like in the picture. so unless the location was moved to the fender bolt on our cars, it wont work right. by changing the location of where the hood strut mounts, it may cause it to either bind up, or not close right.

Nah, it just looks like the lip on the fender edge was pushed down by the washers they have on there. I did go and look, and for shits and giggles, tried it with a set of lifts I have sitting here. They are about 3 inches too short, but that would FOR SURE work for a mounting point. I'm tempted to just DIY this for much cheaper, but I don't see a way to do it without drilling a hole where they have that ball on the hood hinge, and that would just be too small of an area.

The kit listed here is a good option, depending on the strength of the struts, because of the included brackets.

Wonder if there's a way I could do that myself...
