if you were to look into getting a "fake" veilside kit, are there any specific vendors that are more reputable than most? which ones require the least additional modification to the kits to make them fit and whatnot?

they suck, but for the $$$ you save, its worth it, but in all honesty, it would be easier to just get a cuda kit for likr $750 or whatever they are, i tihnk they fit much better even though they are replica's... I just bought mine off ebay, its got a bronze car in the description, and it didn't fit at all, the back still doesnt, everything else wasnt tooo bad, skirts had to be trimmed a ltitle, front fit perfect almost.

I thought there was a rule here about 'fake' parts?

Don't do it dude. A friend of mine got a snide Veilside from ebay and it didnt fit, infact the painter phoned him back and said "the only way to make this fit is cut it in the middle and take out a couple of inches then join it"

Needless to say its still sitting around, useless.

I dont think you will find many on RD who condone buying cheap knockoff parts, save your money or go without would probably be the advice you'll get.

The knock-offs from bodykits.com usually fit rather well. That's where mine is from. Still not a perfect fit, but no crazy fabricating ws needed.

eh, you'll be fine if you've got any body working skills... my body lines are perfect around the kit.. The cuda kits are high quality I do believe, I'd get one of those.

I would like to state that discussion and recommendation of knockoff products is against RDT rules. I've been warned 4 times now for recommending a Chrome Intakes CAI. It is a 2 piece CAI and it resembles AEM's 1 piece design. No matter how much argument takes place, knockoff recommendations are not allowed on RDT.

mine is a knock-off all the way around.. my GTR sides, and rear pods were made by erebuni, and my front CUDA II bumper is an MPS knockoff, and they all fit perfect. i installed them myself when i was a n00b like 3 years ago.. took me an hour to install whole kit.

I musta missed that one in the rules... I dont see why when they're companies making products just like every other company... In almost every situation more $ means more quality, you buy a 80,000 vette, thats what you get, you buy a 250,000 lamborghini, then thats what you get?

The point of the rule is to support the companies who make quality parts for us, not the shitty ripoffs that people make so they can shaft people out of their money. We support AEM because they didn't just make their CAI, they DESIGNED it. We want to support companies that design parts for our cars. If everyone buys cheap ebay knockoffs for our tibs, then no company is going to continue developement on QUALITY products for us. If we supported all of the REAL vendors, we would have more buying power, and we could probably get better products made for us (IE: a new IM, turbo/supercharger kits, etc).

If you buy a knockoff part, it's usually hit or miss. Some people have purchased products with no problems, and some, like Pandy's friend, get complete useless crap. It's like playing craps and with your money and betting on red, except even if you win you still get a half assed product. And if you lose, you lost your money and you won't get it back (paypal only covers items not received, not shitty quality).

Save a little more, buy the real thing, and get a quality product.
