Fake Veilside Kits
as far as the veilside kit thing goes, with fakes, depends on where your get it.. some fit pretty damn good, and almost perfect. and most of the ebay ones that are 400$ shipped fit like shit..
even if i had the money, i would buy the knockoff thats over 1000$ less, and fit it.. i would never spend over 1800$ or w/e for a fiberglass body kit.. if it was urethane or ABS it would be a whole different story.. this is probably a huge reason some people don't buy the genuine veilside kit.
and with my fake MPS, its almost impossible to even get an MPS, then if i find someone who sells them, it may take a year to get it. so why would i not get one thats EXACTLY the same, and cheaper, and readily available.. am i supposed to just say i guess i can't get a body kit, cuz the one i want may not even be available.

Good argument SOCKS... if it's impossible to find an MPS, your only option may be to buy a knock-off.
If the manufacturer no longer makes the kit, I'd find a replica.
In my opinion, the Veilside is worth the money because fitment is 100% perfect, quality is much higher than the replicas, and they offer 50% discount if you ever have to replace a part. It's not worth taking your chances with the fitment issues and possibly spending $700 on something that may never fit.
you would be surprised at the horrible fitments I've seen before. Some are hard to tell they're fake, some you can tell from 200 feet away.

that is the second part of the problem with fakes.. usually they are of cheap constuction.. a light layer of chopper gunned glass and a thin layer of gelcoat.. and out the door they go. You look at them hard and they crack
I dont know where you all are getting your knock offs from... I definitley bought one for $400 off ebay and had it on for a year until a pothole the size of the road (literally) ripped off the front, along with a few other stock cars that it ripped off the front... The bumper is a little off the headlights, but they work perfectly and it lines up with them perfectly... The back sits off the tail lights very slightly, and the back bumper took extremely long to get to fit right... I don't like the way the front of the real veilsides go up and sit high, even if it does mean dragging once or twice less. It takes some work but it was definitley worth it.
most people who bash knock off kits and their quality, have never actually seen a knock off being super shitty, just kinda saying what they have been told. im not saying this is true about anyone who said they are crap on here, but thats how it is alot of times..
i have personally seen 3 or 4 veilside copies, and they have fit pretty damn good after little work, and the fiberglass is comparible to my knock off kit, which is very good. i have hit some curbs and potholes and my kit still holds VERY strong..
my friend right now actually has a fake veilside sitting in a storage area, he got it for 375$ shipped, and its not bad at all. the knock off VS kits have gotten ALOT better over the past couple years. it used to be REALLY crappy, but now the fitment on them is usually nothing more than taking off a lil FG, and maybe filling in some air holes.. for the money a VS copy is well worth it these days, depending on who you get it from.

I have let this go on long enough. Time to lock and bury it.
To sum up the feelings towards knockoffs, replicas, and fakes. UNLESS the company originally making them has either gone out of business or discontinued to make them. We here at RDTiburon.com CANNOT condone the use of these kits.
Not only are they a rip off, but they are actually illegal. Unless the person making the kit has express permission from the original designer and producer to make and market his kit, it is an infringement on copyright, trademark, and possible several patents.
I am sorry if this hurts anybody's feelings, but we cannot accept the possible liability if say VS decides to use our website as evidence to go after somebody who is making a fake of one of their kits. Also, many of our members here are either military, ex-military, or in some sort of law enforcment and to have them as part of a site that allows and promotes the use of what is basically a theft of design is too great a risk to their future and career...
so in short.. locked.gif
