Carbon Fiber Quarter Pannels Anyone??
if i could get EVERY body panel in cf, i would. then, i'd paint it the same blue i have. has anyone seen pics of the ferrari f50 or enzo up close? you can see the fiber pattern through the paint.
:drooling: ferrari f1 red seriously, though, if anyone finds any info on a company that'll make cf body panels, post that info.

*lol* Anyone want to drive around then without their hatch or fenders for a few weeks? Think of the weight savings though when you cruise around with out those parts! eek!

well, cf is stronger than steel. wink long, see if you can get price quotes for the body panels if we get 5 ppl. as far as finding donor panels, if we are really serious about this, we have two options. someone who can lend their panels to the company to get them molded (or however they do it) or we could find out how much it would be to pick up the panels from a junk yard and split the costs among all who are in the group buy. one thing to check out would be if the company can "mirror" the panels. i mean, if we could get/donate just the left side panels, door, hood, hatch, and rear, that would aleviate the need to donate the right panels and doory. i would REALLY like to get this. i've thought about this a lot, i just never gave it that much thought because i thought it wouldn't be too feasible. if we could get it done for *about* the cost of a turbo kit, it might be worth it depending on how much weight we lost. i would only do it for the weight savings, not the look because i'd probably paint it.

is it even possible to have a hatch in cf?
Structurally I thinks that'd be a lot of stress on the cf, but that'd be fckin tight. What about a cf shark wing?
Sure, you could do a Hatch in CF or FG. As long as you kept the structural bracing underneath, you would be fine. A FG rear hatch would shave about 20-30 maybe even 40lbs. A CF might shave off 50 lbs. You could loose 20-30 lbs by just replacing the rear glass with Lexan.is it even possible to have a hatch in cf?

With a lexan rear window, CF or FG rear hatch, the car would be noisy as hell. Metal/glass are decent sound insulators. CF and FG are not. You could always add sound dampening to the part, but you would loose a lot of the weight savings.
I keep thinking of doing a FG rear hatch....but it will be near the "end" of my project. If I go that far, I'll probably also do the doors (outside and inside) in FG too.
well i found a place to make cf hatches for the tib but they're talking about 2000 for the entire hatch. and im sure they arent getting a new window or a lexan window so thats just the hatch itself.
okay scratch that. they said if i can get 5 people to get them they can make cf hatches for 1500.
if you want something in particular if we can get at least 5 people i can get you a est price.
