Carbon fiber hood weigh difference?
I like th eidea of stripping the back and dedicating it to ICE but my only concern would be that, by doing that everyone from the outside would be able to see what you got, making your car/system a sitting duck.
I believe someone once posted a ratio of weight saved to quarter mile time reduction but i can't find it. I'll try and look it up on the net.
Red: Is the figure for the weight of your FG hood accurate? Cause' thats pretty light compared to stock and if the CF hood weighs like 10 or 9 pounds less then, wouldn't it be more cost effective if you take the stock hood to a body shop and have them reproduce it in FG? Of course I'm not sure if this can be done, just a thought I had. ALso I have no idea what a body shop would charge for that if it could be done.

some one asked how strong CF hoods are.....a GOOD quality CF hood will be quite a bit stronger than the exact same hood done in FG.
You wouldn't be able to get exact numbers.....but I'd guess AT LEAST 50% stronger then FG.
you won't be able to get exact numbers b/c :
it depends on how much bracing is done underneath, what material said bracing is made w/ (is it a full CF hood, or a CF/FG mix), Exactly what KIND of CF is used.....IE, what kind/ size of weave and the quality of the Carbon Fibers used to make said weave.

Ive seen pics of an Integra parked on a CF hood, w/ absolutely NO flexing....so yeah they CAN be super strong....but like i said above it depends. also....CF is stronger in more directions than FG..... try parking a car on top of a FG hood.........
You can reduce the weight of your stock hood by removing it's frame, leaving you with only a sheet of metal. Of cousre, youneed hood pins and your hood will be like a sheet of paper when you open it but it's a cheap way to remove weight!
9 lbs for the Zefiro? Are you sure??? Cause when I lifted mine up it felt heavier than my carbon fiber hood, which if I remember correctly, was 9 pounds. Maybe it was 7. But anyway it did feel significantly heavier than the CF hood. Definetly a lot lighter than the stock hood.
Also the carbon fiber hood I have is extremely strong and flexible. Back when that asshole backed into me, he destroyed the Zefiro bumper, but yet the carbon fiber hood took the impact like it was nothing. He only hit me doing like 5 mph, but the stock hood wouldve crumpled, and the Zefiro hood wouldve cracked. Which is why Im afraid of driving around with it on, I dont want any assholes ruining my shit. My whole front end is going to be fiberglass now, the fenders, hood, bumper. Id rather have it all carbon fiber.
