How much lighter CF hood is comparing to our stock one?

 

Well, I know my FG hood weighs about 18 pounds.

The stock one is about 2 times as heavy, at least.

 

so its about 20lbs difference between FG and stock. would CF be even lighter?

 

oh yeah, i bet a good cf hood would weigh about 10 lbs., maybe less. the stock one is over 40.

 

thats a pretty good weigh reduction plus a great look!
now how much would a evo hood weigh with the holes.... even less! only if the price was right on those!!!

 

as light as the CF hood might be.. I doubt the Evo style is going to make a real difference.. you start running into the law of diminishing returns.. you have to do more and more work to get less and less as you approach a theoretical ideal.

 

It would make a bigger difference removing the spare tire and jack..but you already know this I think

 

If I remember correctly, we weighed the CF at either 9 or 13 pounds (Im pretty sure its 13) and the stock one at like 40 pounds. The Zefiro hood weighs more than the carbon fiber one, quite a bit more, which sucks, but it does look better.

 

I dont have a back seat, spare tire, and all that crap, for now I don't even have a pass seat.... but I want to find things that I could use on my car to make it weigh a lot less and still look good!

as for on topic... how strong are carbon fiber hoods?
