Hey, I'm takin my wiper arms off too because they are all flaked and are in need of some paint but I'm not positive how to take them off and don't want to screw anything up. The weather stripping on top of the cowl looks like its really tight to the windshield. Will taking it off break a seal or somthing? Also how do you even take off the arms? It sounds stupid but I took the nut of on the drivers side arm and from there do I just pull up? because it didn't want to budge.

 

Yeah, just grab the wiper arm about in the middle, and pull up. If you have to, use the hinge in the arm for a bit of leverage. Doesn't make much sense when I type it, but when you're out there pulling it off you'll get what I mean I hope.

It just takes a bit of wiggling, it might be rusted around where the bolt/nut is.

The cowling isn't sealed as far as I know. At least, mine wasn't. There's just a few screws holding it down, which you'll see when you open the hood.

 

wow, i never thought of painting the plastic cover. i painted the wipers already, but that cover is dull and needs to get armoralled. i might give it a shot of black as well. nice work

 

I painted the wiper arms today with duplicolour rim paint. (My younger brother had some for his dirt bike) And it turned out nicely. I ran out of paint just before I was done and I was trying to get the last bit of any paint left and it came out watery and f***ed up the wiper so I went out and had to buy another can of the shit just for one pass, lol. But at least they look good for now. I didn't clear them or anything.
