x3 question
yah the hd had a different trans (I had a 07) I always wanted to pull one to see if it could be adapted they did still have beta engines but reverse gear was up by first (you had to pull the shift boot to put it in reverse
The push pull thing is how the pressure plate is disengaged. A push style is literally pushed in via the throwout bearing to take the pressure off the friction disc. The pull is, pulled out to take the pressure off. Accents run a push, betas a pull until the HD Elantras (07 it seems). Mitz uses push mostly.
You will have too unless you convert the hydraulic system meant for the beta to the other type of pressure plate disengagement movement (switch from pull to push) Not difficult at all and someone was selling the "conversion kits" at one time. I am not sure what parts to get that would switch it around.
I still say the XTD uses a stock freaking PP painted red (verified by a local but reputable clutch rebuilder).... BUT they have held a reasonable amount of power since it is the cheapest way I know to get a ceramic puck'd disc. They also have kits for a hair under 300 that include a flywheel. I also saw one with very light use thanks to a broken starter throwing metal into the PP.. that was already showing some odd wear with the springs (scary loose) and the thing in the center with the splines was wobbly.
I personally like the ACTs, I absolutely love my ACT w/ the organic disc (that PP is not freaking stock) that has over 100k on it and still holds strong. The last time I did a load test it spun the tires a bit in third at 25ishmph. (that was a really bad idea and i stopped that before i broke something - i could hear my transmission cursing me for that). However, I have heard that their organic disc is is only good until about 8psi (with a decent tune/power) or so. If I remember right they rate it for 230lbs of torque.... but it doesn't last that long at its rated grip.
cheap cheap

not so cheap but more better (that pic is wrong because that is not the TOB and we dont have a pilot bearing - but price comparison).
