I figured that, but didn't want to volunteer the info without validating.

The 2D in my set has been validated as the 1.8. I would be willing to help out on this big time.

I'd offer to dyno mine but the stock motor has seen better days and is still rocking the auto until the new motor is ready to install. Any gains you might see will be sucked away by the torque converter and sloppy internals.

The real gain with fitting the 1800 cam to a 2L is in the torque, realising improved midrange gains of around 20-30lbft or so from the longer duration.

As far as I know, a back-to-back test of 1800 and 2l cams has never been done though - so I hope this happens, it'll be interesting to get a direct comparison. Anyone fancy doing it with an XD (BETAII) cam as well

Yep, as stock a UK spec 2.0 made 138bhp, F2 Evo engine made 145bhp, both on an engine dyno in korea, witnessed by a Uk forum trader who used to work for Hyundai in korea. I was given 15-17lbs/ft as mid range figure, either way theres certainly a noticeable difference in the mid range, but little at the top.

Hyundai did claim 154bhp from the f2 Evo though, where the other 9bhp came from is unknown, the exhaust was altered slightly, but baffles were fitted further up the line to keep power gains from it down to zero.

I was a tad rose-tinted about the torque figure then - was too long ago, tbh... LOL

the car has 80k miles with intake/header and made 126hp 128 ft-lbs avg of 3 runs.

THAT sounds like a winner!

So then then the second question becomes: would you pitch in to get a 1.8L cam, or if you have one would you donate it to Mr. Muffin?

I'm in, I've been skeptical about this for years. Would love to finally see some real numbers.
