In winter your CAI becomes ECAI (extremely cold air intake) tongue.gif j/k
I'm afraid of the salt, that could thrown on the filter. It could damage it. I would put a shield to avoid that. And wash filter more often.

when it comes to the DIY, there is no DIY for a CAI on these boards.
first use the Resonator Removal DIY. if you get an AEM intake, it comes with some pretty good directions. to sum it up:
1. remove resonator (see link above)
2. jack l/f wheel off.
3. take out battery and tray (not necessary, but can be helpful)
4. put piping in to line up the hole you're gonna have to cut
5. cut said hole out of the inner wheel well.
6. attach filter
7. secure piping to car using the holder thing they provide
8. put everything back together
don't forget to take out the rubber grommet that holds the Air Intake Temperature (AIT) sensor from the stock air box. you'll need that to put into the CAI piping
that should be everything
