Does anyone know what kind of socket I need to remove the flywheel from them crank shaft? it looks like and 18 but it has like twice the edges!!??

i believe u just use an 12 point 18mm. any hardware store should have it.

Ye... there are tons of different sockets... 6 point, 9 point, 12 point... etc.

Ya SOCKS is right. Its a 17mm 12 pt. socket. Not 18mm, that wouldnt be good if you tried to use it.

OH good times removing the flywheel bolts.

I was holding the flywheel with a pair of vice grips attached to one of the pegs and my friend david (mustangdrvr2019 - the guy who just joined) manned the ratchet.

The flywheel suddenly rotated when he tried to loosen a bolt and my palm ended up pinched between the end of the vice grips and a brick, the pain was incredible. even worse was i had to rotate the flywheel back before i could free my hand.

Yah, it took a couple trips around the garage before the cursing stopped, but it was a day or 2 before the pain subsided.

But didnt stop me from finishing the job that day lol. good times...

If you use pnumatics (air tools) its alot easier. But that must have sucked ^^^^

ok guys it done! thanks for your help... oh and FYI I used a crowbar to hold the fltwheel still... just used the wedge end to hold it still then a breaker bar and a lil elbow grease. =) my airtools crapped out at the amount of torque on the bolts lolol
