You most likely didnt release the TOB from the PP
Unbolt and remove the release arm that should allow the fork to unhook from the PP, just try to separate the tranny again. if youve already tried that or it didnt help then use a crow bar or two, one on the 10 oclock and one on the 5oclock
remember there is a metal gasket thing that if is still connected to the tranny itll give you some problems.

throw out bearing, pressure plate..
it IS most likely what has been said.. heres what to do.. since i just had this problem..
the top of the transmission, there is s lever, connected to the slave cylinder.. take the cotter pin off the slaev cyl and detach it from the lever.. pull the lever UP about a half inch and wiggle it until it freely moves, THEN the transmission will fall right off.
also, make sure all thew bolts are off, lol.. you might need a crow bar to just pop it off, or a big flathead screw driver.

yep, for some reason i think everyone goes through this. i did the same, just took off the cotter pin and wiggled it loose and it fell off. wasnt to hard, just took time to figure it out. i didnt pry hard enough to break anything in the process though
