Random, if you are porting the valves, dont you need bigger valves? Or when you are porting the valves are the larger valves installed, then just swap out? If you could elabrate in this a little more it would be great.

Thanks

Without going into a complete engine lesson here.

PORT = the area before the intake valve itself and AFTER the exaust valve itself

So...those openings (NOT the round hole...whatever comes before/after the round valve hole) can be polished...and/or enlarged...and or reshaped independant of the valve itself.

You can also to the exact opposite (not that it makes sense)...you can put in larger valves and enlarge the valve HOLE...but not enlarge the opening leading up to or direct after the valve hole.

Basically...the part that directly contacts the Intake manafold and exhaust manifold...those openings are what can be enlarged/reshaped/polished. without making any "valve" changes.

Have you guys (SR) considered outsourcing the work to someone closer to the US or in the US? The person that comes to mind is Onpol. Why not work something out where the parts get sent to and worked on by him?

Also, would port / polish / boring be detrimental to an engine with turbo in it's future?

Porting is rather easy..any machine shop can enlarge your ports or polish them. But to RESHAPE the port and to reshape/re-angle the valve seat...that takes experience akin to an art form. Very few shops have that kind of experience.

I would trust only one company in the USA. Endyn. Other than that...It would have to be HVE or one of the better Korean companies.

It would be easy to screw up the reshaping or angling and screw up your engine.

You can port/polish/reshape a special way to benefit a turbo/supercharger...but typically, that will not show much gains until go to forced induction. There are also differences in turbo setup vs supercharger setup....etc..etc..etc.

So...yes, it can be done. But you probably don't want it done untill the time of the turbo install.

I would suggest a ported intake manafold. and some "light" port enlarging work.

Then I would suggest the supercharger or turbo. maybe a lighthten flywheel and stronger clutch...and a short shifter of course.

I don't trust HDK's chips, and I've never been a fan of NOS. But that's just me!
