That's the total cost for me to get the HVE 4-1 headers installed, 2.5" aluminized piping, high flow cat,
02 bung welded, new flex pipe, small glass pack, and Tsudo DTM muffler. The whole system will be a bolt on and off type exhaust system.
It is scheduled to be installed tomorrow.

Well if you live in CA removing your catalytic converter is not legal, the shop doing the work get's fined $2,000.00 if they get caught doing it. I heard that the owner of the car can also get fined as well. It is hard to find a shop to do custom exhaust work done up casue they dont want to take the risk.
Well I canceled the appointment for the exhaust work and will shop around some more for better pricing.

I live in Hawaii, and here removing the catalytic converter is NOT ILLEGAL so therefore people here do custom exhaust systems and take out the cat. Question, by removing the cat, does that eliminate a lot of restrition on the airflow. Thus, adding ....power?

on a mildly modified car, removing the cat would give you about 2 HP. Sport Compact Car magazine did a writeup on this about 6 months to a year ago. They were using a 2.0L nissan sentra, it's fairly comparable to our motors.
It's just not worth it.
