Default Unorthodox Underdrive Pulley

Ok, basically I was considering getting a underdrive pulley. Is it worth it? I don't want to void my warranty or have my engine trashed by 100k but I still wouldn't mind the extra power.

Any of you guys out there have it? Or know anything about anyone that uses it?

thankx guys

There are many people who have "issues" with an underdrive pulley, and many do not.

I personally do not care for them, but there are others that do.

If you head over to FX-Treme and go to the "old" forums, you can search on it. You will find many, many threads with the pro-s and Con-s clearly stated for you to make up your own opinion.

I had an underdrive pulley (opperative word HAD) I hated it, It was a pain to put on and to me felt like no gain at all the only difference I saw was my lights dimmed until I hit the gas for the price they want for it there are many other mods you can do then to spend $200 plus on something that I feel shows and gives no improvement. I also e-mailed unorthadox and they said horsepower gain on there tib was between 2-8 later on I e-mailed them again after I had bought it and another person wrote me and said I would be lucky if I got a 1 hp at the wheels they said the one for the tib is more or less to take strain of the alternator and really nothing else. So needless to say I then took it off and returned it. Hope that helps

The pulley works not by increasing HP but by reducing loss, you will not FEEL more power and yeah I've seen the dyno results and it does work on a totally maxed modded car. Like so many other MOds you need to have others for this to work. I would not put the pulley on a car running hi boost nor a bone stock car. I do have the pulley and when I took it off I felt a difference, also I made sure mine was on right and balanced/ right belts etc. this is the biggest problem with the pulley, wrong sized or cheap belts and you loose power big time. Also you can not run a big amp with the pulley ( awwwww that custon stereo now has 100 watts not 400 sad.gif ). read the pros and cons and decide AFTER you have the other mods.

Oh also I'm auto, 5spd tibs don't loose near as much power making the pulley not worth the money compared to to other mods, on an auto any little bit counts.
