So my transmission is in worse shape than the transmission place originally thought. Quite a few things were damaged besides the cage around the bearings on the differential. So I went back and looked at my receipts. I got one dating back to August of 2005 when Firestone did the brakes. At the time they said the transmission oil was black and that the valves were "crunchy". I freaked about this at the time and took it to the dealer because they had recently done trans fluid and oil. They told me that Firestone was insane and that nothing was wrong with the color of the transmission fluid. So for a few years I've been driving it and it appears that there was an issue. I checked the fluid regularly it looked to be the color it had been since I had the dealers look at it, so I figured it was fine. So it looks like not only did the dealer misdiagnose the car last month when I brought it in with the leak, but they also screwed up when they said the trans fluid was fine. So because of them most of the transmission has to be rebuilt. I'm assuming this means the car will be at the shop for a few more days.

So the "Hyundai" experts totally screwed me, twice. Sure, I got a refund from the unnecessary fixes done back in January, but they've been screwing up for a lot longer. On the bright side, I may have found one reputable shop to do minor repairs. I just find it rather twisted that a GM specialist was able to diagnose the cars issue far better than a Hyundai shop.

Sounds like something my dealer would do. While changing my clutch my dealership took a whole 8 weeks to do the install just to were its driveable. There is still some noise from the gears not meshing right that needs to be fixed still but im waiting til i have time to get it all taken care of. Never trust a Hyundai dealer lol even tho they do have a good warranty.

damn bro, that's complete sh*t. the dealership always sucks. what you need to do is find and make friends with one mechanic who you can trust.

i found mine through the gazette. results? well we bought 4 more problem-free hyundais from him and my parent's friends bought 2 tiburons and other friends bought 2 more cars. he's the guy who did my auto->manual swap.

some tranny fluids have different colors depending on grade. mine is peach red. i hear it's not safe to change the fluid...

Well the warranty is good at any reputable shop. I just always used the dealer because they were a big name so I knew if they screwed up they'd have to take care of it. And they did screw up and they didn't want to take care of it but they eventually did. The sad thing is that car hasn't had any issues that have come from my oopsies. The alternator got screwed because a mechanic jabbed it with a screwdriver in one of the fins.. The bolt on the hub assembly got jacked because one shop tried to remove the locks on the wheels with an impact wrench.. the bearing got f***ed because when they tried to fix the bolt they screwed something with the hub assembly.. the airbag went bad because Circuit City drilled a hole through it when they were installing the alarm..

Ok.. wait.. the struts went bad from wear as did the calipers. But that was because Oregon put salts on the roads in the winter and that cause things to get eaten up faster.

I'm soo having the gm mechanic do the timing belt heh.. eventually.
