Why Is My Engine Better Than Before With New Timing Belt?

Vehicle: 1999/Hyundai/Tiburon
Just wondering.
At 60,000 miles, the timing belt was changed at the Hyundai dealer using a Hyundai Timing belt. 70,000 miles later, I got my timing belt changed last week with an aftermarket Beck and Arnley timing belt and went to a local mechanic. My engine:
-Idles Smoother
-Starts smoother
-shuts down smoother
-engine is quieter
-quicker cold starting
-Better acceleration.
Did you guys think that the Hyundai dealer did some bad timing when changing the belt?
The bad side is that I replaced my OEM water pump for an aftermarket cheap Remanfacturer Water pump. The blades are smaller than the OEM. The water pump is also louder. I think the water pump change was a waste of money because the OEM water pump still looked fine.

If the timing was off a degree or two, I can see it causing the problems..
As for the waterpump.. they never look bad until they finally go. Either the seal dies (and it starts spitting water out of the weep hole, or the bearing dies, the pump siezes, and the belt goes up in smoke while the car overheats (been there, done that)
