Transmission dead?
Hmm I always thought you needed a new ECU... not really my strongpoint as I already have a manual. Tranny swaps aren't for those who have little car experience. Toxic is young and doesn't strike me as a DIYer, but who knows I may be wrong. 8O
Either way, 90 day warranty? Thats awesome, none of the places near me do that, guess because I live in the middle of nowhere. I personally don't go to junkyards looking for transmissions if I can't absolutely positively make sure its what I'm looking for, I usually only go scavenging for small little things tongue.gif

Actually, the junkyard I am using is much closer to you than me. It is located in Virginia Beach. Most all junkyards will give you a 30 day warranty on engines and transmissions, some are more generous and give longer.
I agree, a transmission swap isn't for someone without at least moderate mechanical knowledge. I have helped with a couple of swaps in other vehicles, but this will be the first on my own.
It would still be cheaper to pay someone 1k for the parts and another 1k for someone to do the swap than to pay 3k for a decent automatic. I am sure that it would be an absolute kick ass tranny, but without really knowing what the autos weak points are, and whether or not "bulletproofing" it would take out that weak link, I personally wouldn't be willing to risk it.
