Tranny Trouble

Alright heres the deal. I have had my tib new since 2000, no major problems at all just the basics to keep her in good health. The past couple weeks i have been noticing a slippage i guess . it slips around 3000 RPM . My question is before i take it to the shop , how bad could this be ? and how easy to fix? or is this definatly a shop job.? 02.gif

It can be a few hundred to $1000+ depending on where you go and what line of bull they try to sell you. Or, you can spend a weekend with a friend and a good set of wrenches and get it done for

its easy ive done this a few times now, llol/ a friend who is mechanically inclined is a good idea an one thing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, make SURE you disengage the T.O.B. otherwise itll kick ur ass lol

Did mine yesterday, or I should say ABQElantra did mine yesterday. That man is a BEAST. If you aren't patient or mechanically inclined, have it done for you. Replace it with a new setup that will do what you want it to.

Now hold on, does he have a standard or an automatic. Could be two tottaly different problems. I went looking for his intro post and could find nothing about which tranny he has.

Well easiest (IMHO) and least expensive will be to get an OE replacement clutch kit and resurface your flywheel yourself. To resurface your flywheel, all you really need to do is deglace the contact surface of the flywheel. If you are not so inclined as to do it yourself, just take it to a reputable shop and have them replace the clutch. To have a shop do it you are looking at around $800. Done by yourself it will be right around $200 and a day of your time.
