Tranny Swap
I'm not saying it doesn't work. I've never actually driven in an automatic switched to manual, but I've driven an manual switched to an automatic.
I'm saying that unless your absolutely sure of what you're doing or you know who you're paying knows what they're doing, then I wouldn't attempt it. If you have to come onto a site and ask what you need... it makes me wonder whether you have the mechanical ability and knowhow to do it yourself.

I'm just thinking if I go to the extent of this swap and pay $1000+ to have it done, I will probably spend the extra money to do the six speed swap. I believe it is an option for the RD cars in Korea, but I don't know if it has been done here yet. Might just wait to see if that is anything some of our major performance companies offer in the future. I figure if I gotta buy a tranny to do it anyway, might as well do it right.
thats a good idea..i never thought of putting a 6 speed in my car..i want to put a manual in my car, because ive heard that autos in the rd2 cant handel turbo..and i do plan on getting a turbine in the future..so i have no idea what to do.if im gonna spend 3g to buy the tranny and pay someone to install it it makes more sense to sell mine and buy a manual, but idk..ill just listen to what others have to say for right now
The auto tranny can easily handle moderate boost, like 8PSI for long periods of time if you don't abuse it everywhere. The auto tranny is by no means weak, it just creates more drivetrain loss and loses more power to the wheels. 8PSI with a T3/T04E should put you near 160-170whp I would imagine.
Thats why some of those old posts dug up on HyundaiPerformance are no good. The ONLY way the auto tranny is going to blow up at 5PSI is if its damn near dead already.

Alright is it possible that a transmission from an elantsa or even an accent maybe work for the tiburons? Would it have to be from the same year? If anyone knows get back to me because i know i can find a tranny from a hyundai around here if they can be used on the tiburons. thanks
