Tranny Flush? Easy to do, or should I pay too much?
Any chance of getting a list of parts needed to complete this, or even better: A DIY? That would be awesome. Also, if someone here has done this before, PM me if you are willing to allow me to pick your brain for a minute. Another way to contact is on IM, just hit me at raehtz10. Thanks a ton, I am hoping this will fix the tranny trouble I have been having.
...they wouldn't DO tranny flushes if they didn't do anything.
tranny flushes DO help help prevent/fix some problems.
i would suggest before getting a new tranny or rebuild or something from a junkyard that you do a full hi-pressure flush, then change the oil and put in some of that restore stuff. i've read where an AT has been totally demolished, and a high-pressure flush made it all A LOT better. (that was on a honda though..)

There is nothing major with the tranny, it is just being sluggish. All I am going to do is change the fluid as per the maintenance requirements. I need a list of parts and possibly a procedure to go with it. I can get it done at Uncle Ed's Oil Shop for $85, but I don't really want to spend that much.

i didn't think so!
i just thought there might be something special or what have you.... considering the dealership charges over $200 bucks.
figured i'd make sure. 8^)

The thing about doing it like an oil change...you still have fluid in there....I use a machine at work and it flushes 98% of the fluid while the car is running...pretty cool actually. For some reason we only charge $95.
If you have any questions..PM me or IM at undacovatib

The only thing about that is most shops will have you sign a waiver if the car has a certain amount of miles or if you said that you noticed a slippage...or any other problems. If the AT is demolished..such as slipping, or not going into gear at all..it is better to leave the old fluid in there. It is keeeping parts of the transmission together.
