Default torque convertor?

Could someone explain to me the pupose and benefits of a torque convertor. Would it be worth getting on a 2000 tib with a little under 30000 miles. And what would be a good price for it and installation. I did a search but couldn't find anything

The torque converter is a part of the automatic transmission and is what puts the power of the engine to the wheels. It takes high rpm and low torque of the engine and turns it into low rpm and high torque to drive the wheels. Hmmmm... how can I explain how it works simply??

Basically there are 2 impellors (fans) inside the torque converter. Depressing the accelerator makes the fan spin faster. When your car is in drive, the one spinning fan creates a sort of thrust to move the second impellor (fan) which actually drives the power to the wheels.

I'm sure that Random could give a better explanation.

In short your car, equipped with automatic transmission, already has a torque converter. You can purchase an aftermarket torque converter from www.levelten.com which can handle supercharging or turbo charging.

I hope this helps.

I am selling my stock one.

You cannot purchase a performance levelten torque convertor.

what levelten does, is take your stock torque convertor and modify it making it into a performance torque convertor.

That is why I decided to sell mine,as a spare, so you can have a torque convertor worked on and still be bale to drive your car around
