Today I changed my timing belt.
I drove 61,000 kms (38,000 miles) on my old belt. It was all with cracks.

^^ You really should, if it breaks your going to need a new motor.

Lucky you changed it. I guess the conditions are harsh where you are so it corroded faster.

^Hmm, you wouldn't need a new *motor*; new valves, or if you want, a new head would do it in most cases (ie, if the pistons and cylinders are not damaged) if you get interference.

Yah if mine broke for me itd be a good excuse for a port and polished head, polished valves, and some nice valve springs. But im not saying id like my timing belt to break before i change it, i would just make the best of it if it broke and i bent some valves.

How hard was it to change it? Were you going of off a DIY? How long did it take?

it does look bad but in all reality the steel line inside of it would have held up for a pretty good amount of time.

im still trying to figure out why they suggest 60k miles in the us and around 30 elsewhere.
