my 00 tiburon is at about 75,00 miles, i think i need a timing belt
as well as the other three or four belts in the car??

what do you think??

i can hear the belts making noise?? can the timing belt be making my steering
wheel and dash vibrate??

will my car run better and have more power with a new timing/other belts??

how many belts does a tiburon have??

should i get a gear oil change at that time too?? would this help give me smoother shifts??

i was quoted around $350 including tax for all new belts, this includes labor and parts?? is this a fair
quote??

HELP ME OUT GUYS

you should have changed it at 60k miles. it is way overdue for a timing belt.

-doubt it will run better with new stuff.
-4 total belts.
-sure thing, it probably needs a change if you havent yet.
-theres no way changing the timing belt and all others would be 350. i wouldnt even trust that price its soo low.

you need to keep up with maintenance better. you are way overdue on things.

I would trust it if it's from the dealer.

Mine just quoted me $249 for the timing belt and labor, and I've got a 10% off coupon too.

They said with the other belts it would be about $80 more. They also said they'd put my pulley on for $10.

I never paid to have my belts done.. but I know it is a PITA to do. The timing belt alone requires that the upper and lower belt cover be removed (be prepared to lose skin squeezing your hand between the cover and the fenderwell of the car) and then not only do the main drive belt to the alternator, waterpump, and [powersteering need to be pulled, so does the air conditioning belt. Then you have to remove the pulley that drives them... then you can remove the timing belt.

A bad belt on the powersteering can and will make the steering and car shake. By not traveling smoothly over the pulleys it causes ebbs and flows of pressure to the steering rack, the resulting "shock" will make everything vibrate and shake.

While your car will not run any better, it will probably run a little smoother (see above) and it will run a lot better than if the timing belt snaps. Not something you want to get stuck on the side of the road with.

It is also probably a good idea to change the gear old too.. better now than later. And yes, it might give you smoother shifts as new gear oll is better at absorbing shock loads to the gears, lubricating them, and disapating heat.

REDZ, I cannot believe they wanted to charge you $10 to replace the drive pulley.. they already had it off, it was just a simple matter of taking the new pulley out of it's box and installing it.

what do you think??

Do the change. In Europe and in Korea they tell you to do it every 60 000 kms (37 000 miles)
Change all 4 belts.

Yes, you can.

No.

No, but it will be more reliable.

4 belts (timing, power steering, air conditioner, alternator&water pump)

Yes, do it too.

They said with the other belts it would be about $80 more.

It's stupid! Cause if they take off all belts to change just timing belt - it will be no difference for them what accesories belts to put back - used or new.

The same with spark plugs, when measuring compression.

^^^
You expect them to throw the other new belts in for free?

I did my other belts, but Timing is being done by the dealer. If I have to pay $10 to get my pulley tossed in there, that's not an issue at all.
