Timing belt
I need to change my timing belt, but i don't want to spend 500.00 on labor...(the belt is only 120.00) i got a timing light and most of the other tools i would need to do this. I have never changed a timing belt before, but my dad has and he said he'd (he 's done timing belst on older cars) help...should i make the attempt of should i leave it to the dealer??

Depends on how handy you and your "helper" are.
You can read up on how to do it at http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/default.asp
Then decide for yourself.

What do i need besides the new timing belt? Do i need a new head gasket, because i have to take the cover off? I just wanna make sure there is nothing I miss so I can do it all in one day.

you will not need to remove the valve cover to replace the timing belt. you first remove all the accesory belts, eg alt, power steering and A/C.
then line up you engine to top dead center, there are timing marks on the front case cover and notches on the crank pully. remove the upper timing belt cover and to make sure you are on TDC the dowel pin on the camshaft sprocket must be facing at the top 90degrees. also make sure the crank is on TDC mark. you can be 180degrees out.
then remove the crank bolt, an impact gun would help in this situation, but if you dont have one use a breaker/johnson bar to crack it loose by wedging it between the control arm and drive shaft (handle pointing to the rear of car. then use the engines starter to crack it loose.
then the rest is pretty straight forward, after you removed the crank pully, timing belt cover. use the hma service for timing tension and marks for referance.

J@WS01 has it, you don't need any gaskets or anything trickey.
I don't personaly reccomend using the breaker bar on the crank pully and using the starter. You might break your arms or fingers! Good Old Arm force should do the trick. Just make sure you line the motor back up when done, as the motor will tend to move as you torque on the crank pulley nut, or the motor WILL MOVE if you use the starter!
