Guys, I think I'm taking the project car in a whole new direction. I was just at a session of Time Attack put on by Redline at the California Speedway. It was incredible, and I think I might just enter into the modified class for the FWD catagory. Check out http://www.redlinetimeattack.com and tell me what you think, its awesome stuff.

But with a whole new direction for the car, do you think a tib pushing between 350-400fwhp with full suspension and low weight would be able to compete? I want to build this car for heavy driving, and i think a tib is a good pick for the FWD catagory since its so light and responsive to boost. Tell me I'm not crazy, but I just think this would be a killer way to pick up attention rather than pushing a fully built motor down the drag strip. I can always do both, but for now, this looks promising since the car will come out of the shop with a full cage and structural reinforcments. I'll be on the market for tons more suspension mods now, and maybe I'll see what I cant do about getting another kit for another car to work with the RD, such as some EDFC on the SuperStreet coilovers from TEIN for the GK. That may be worth the pioneering.

So should I go balls out Time Attack? I want to.

My car is actually geared toward time attack trials since I do so much mountain driving. I'm putting down 300 to the wheels right now and I've got racing coilovers from B&P. I'm actually considering getting an even stiffer setup like my friends. There's another brand of full coilovers that's even better than the teins which I'm potentially going to upgrade to - I'll have to get the name later. I've also got my BBK with huge 2-piece directional rotors for race duty breaking. Check them out with my 17s.

I'd say go for it. Blows drag racing away.

Gooooooooo CHRIS!

Sure man, any kind of the mentioned activities will get you publicity!!
To star on a drag strip with the tib will be much harder...

As for the EDFC, try convincing the KSPORT guys to finally make it.
They already have a great, reasonably priced coilover kit..... Please....

Find me those guys man, but honestly, I cant imaging being able to hold much more than 400fwhp on a track and it do you any good. Unless it was VERY tuned I think that much power would come in at a bad time for a track with tons of turns, and if you unleash 4 bills to the wheels right before a hard brake then turn, I dont know that the tires would recover from the wheel spin=you fly straight through cones, or worse yet a wall.

But I think that'd be a good direction to push the car, get some carbon parts to shave lbs. What else should I do to it? I have no clue about gearing a tranny for this stuff, what ratio is better, etc. Help smile.gif

You know whats funny, I just got life insurance for the first time, and one of the biggest risk type of insuring is for race car drivers. So if they find out my insurance might get cancelled. LOL. Friggin race car drivin... [/dreams]

CF trunk, CF Sunroof and CF unibody. GK Tib's trunk weights like 300 lbs, dunno about RD. you just never feel it because of shock absorbers. Keep fenders and hood to hold down weight. wide tires would help.

Sounds great man, do whatever you want, as long as your giving the tib some publicity and making it look good. fing02.gif

Preferably, Id like to see some great drag numbers but time attack is fine too.
