my 2nd gen tib kept dying today... i lifted the hood... the fan that is right in front of the headers isnt running... could this be a fuse problem or what?

I'm sorry man, but that description just doesn't cut it. isn't enough information.

Give us a good description of the problem, like how old your car is, how many miles it has, what condition the fusebox is like, any modifications to your car or is it bone stock? what do you mean by dying? does it go out when you're driving or when you stand still? how are the lights, are they dimmed out, power windows moving slow?

Get the drift man? We'll do our best to give you some feedback if you do your best to describe the problem.

To give you a start though, it can be diagnosed. it might be your battery terminals being corroded or loose. it might be your starter or alternator. you might need new spark plugs. you might need new fuses. something might be clogging your injectors. a sensor might need to be replaced. you might have popped a cylinder... and the list goes on...

If you takea look at your fusebox in the engine bay. You can easily open the lid to it and see if any of the fuses are popped. usually each fuse has a piece of metal that connects the two sides. if any are popped you have to replace them.

It sounds to me like you have an ignition problem. what happens when you turn the key?

Try checking your battery terminals (pos + neg -) to see if they are tight. stalling usually happens when a battery terminal isn't clamped, loose, or corroded away. you can fix that by disconecting them (careful not to get shocked) and sanding the battery terminals with sand paper. when you're done connecting everything, get some grease and grease them so that they do not further rust or corrode. loose or corroded battery terminals are a frequent problem in hyundais. you just have to make sure they're tight and clean.

tell us more about that dying problem?

does you engine stall?



Try turning on air condition..... does it sovle your fan problem?

lol...its the air conditioning... sry... i build computers for a living... im use to the fan "keeping it cool" if you understand what im saying.

You really need to tell us more.

1. What is the last modification you did to your car?

2. When was it compared to when this problem started?

3. Is it struggling to idle and dies or what?

4. What brand TPS is on your car?

Doesn't the fan not run 100% of the time anyway? And wouldn't the car continue to run without the fan on, until it eventually overheated.

There are 2 fans: cooling fan and A/C fan.

Cooling fan is working when engine is hot and A/C fan is working only when you turn on A/C.

And yes it's possible to drive car without fan (cooling) BUT OVERHEATING WILL OCCURE

right one is A/C fan. should work with A/C.

do ECU reset, never hurts. remove - batt for 1 minute to remove power from ECU and then reconnect.
