well another question though is just because the 1.8l tranny has a little shorter gears is it really going to be any faster? especially if you do any major mods, it'll make you shift more often which I'm betting will even things out. plus by going with the 1.8l you going to lose a few mpg, and if this is a daily driver as well then you'll want to take that into consideration.

the 1.8 does have shorter gearing... for those that are turbo, thats a nightmare.

I currently have an 03 elantra tranny, and i love it. Nice gas mileage and will give me a slightly longer 4th gear.

Yes they will all fit.

I would say it's a traction problem the shorter gearing will mean more tire spin, I get tire spin in 1st,2nd & 3rd and the shorter gearing would only make it worse.

A turbo car makes more power and can take advantage of the higher gearing.

4G63s are not direct swap, engines or transmissions. For god sakes, get this Mitsubishi to Hyundai thing out of your head. Eclipse trannies are on the other side, and Evo ones are AWD, and messin turning that into FWD creates evil little problems.

The 2.0L already has a horribly short first gear. Swapping to a 1.8L is just going to make it worse. Most people that turbo 2.0L or even basic bolt-ons probably want a longer first gear, not a shorter one. lol.gif
