stock 2.0
what kind of miles can you put on it running like this,seems to me you could get the same hp with v6 w/ simple bolt ons,so why is it called so week??its as week as the 2.0..sure the 2.7 is .7 bigger but is it that much weight and youd have more torque and useable power almost all the way through the power band..
you said stock internals, with new con rods and pistons you can push 300hp plus. I know red and onpol are looking at upper 300hp area easily. The v6 can push about 220 before it requires major work.
The v6 has a weak crank and bearings. Just to replace that you'd pay out the nether regions. If you could get one custom built.
You can buy a i4 strap a turbo onto it for 4 grand and get 300hp+-. Its super light and can haul some ass. The v6 is a awesome engine but your going to pay a few grand just go get the internals ready for that power.
For the money you save on buying a i4, you can throw a turbo on it and get WAY more power then the v6.

The only weak spot on the four cylinder engine is the pistons. After replacing the pistons with upgraded models, you can get ~300 wheel horsepower out of it safely. If 300 isn't enough, the rods have to be replaced with something more expensive AND the pistons will need to be forged. For about $1200 in rods and pistons, the engine is good to about 630 wheel horsepower safely.
The V6 is innundated with weak spots. Pistons burn ringlands, rods are thin, rod bearings and main bearings are weak, the crankshaft itself doesn't deal with a lot of power either. Nobody makes parts to upgrade all that.
The I4 was made to be beaten severely and never complain; the V6 was made to be smooth and easy going. If you want more than 225 wheel horsepower out of you car, the V6 should NOT be you choice.

damn,630 hp huh?nice,ok,the v6 sucks entirely then,i pray that hopefully you guys are wrong and for some odd reason hyundai made it better cuz of the abuse they should have known it will go through,along with the 4cyl.well,is that 220 safe ive allready got the car..and what is that gonna hold its own against 94 mustang?i hope at least that..
