I have a 1998 Hyundai Elantra, converted to 2.0L and yet retained the stock transmission and push-style clutch system. My car has been recently turbocharged, and in the process has been fitted with an Exedy Racing Clutch set (pressure plate and clutch disc), designed for the Mitsu 4G92M motor but apparently bolts on perfectly. The clutch pedal is so stiff my knees are starting to hurt (and yes, my left leg muscles are building up nicely). I was wondering if there is something I can do to make the pedal softer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pull the seat a little closer and do some leg presses.

Thanks for all the responses. It feels softer now, but it is a PITA in Manila's snarling traffic. Oh well, such is life.

You could try fitting a bigger clutch booster from another card. The stock one is tiny.

I'm sure the guy above means clutch master cylinder...the clutch doesn't have a booster, the brakes do. All the Hyundai's I've seen appear to have a tiny master cylinder so getting a bigger one may involve alot of custom modding. But hey since you apparently have been moddin the crap out of your car already you should be used to it!

I don't know how far you have to push your clutch, I only have to push mine 1/2 -3/4 way. You may be able to get away with a longer arm for more leverage on the clutch release forks. Maybe not much help, but it's a start and you could get something fabricated to be adjustable I'm sure.

Btw.. Users have reported problems with the crank bearings as a result of stronger clutches.
