so i have completely bled my power steering system, and have tightened that belt beyond belief. my power steering still squeals loud enough to set off car alarms in my parking garage when its lower than 40 degrees out.

i think it has something to do with the underdrive crank pulley i installed. i am also using power steering fluid instead of the recommended atf.

Yes, mine does aswell only under certain cirumstances..

A) Turn the wheel far left/right
B) Has to be cold outside

Occurs maybe once every 3 weeks, but then goes away after a couple seconds.

Mine does that also under certain conditions. I changed the pump once and it stopped. However, it has just started up again. I'm not to sure what it could possibly be.

No man, its not the system needing to be bled. I have read multiple threads about this here on this forum. I had the same problem. It was VERY loud, but only when it got on the cool side. It would squeak as long as the car was on, it never went away.

So i changed the pump and it all but went away. It is still there, but it is very faint.

I too have a UD pulley, but it started squeaking long after I installed that.

mine only squeals on startup though.

every time i bleed it, it gets better. i took out the whole ps reservoir so a lot of air was introduced. im thinking there is still some in there. it happened right after i did that.

my old rd2 had that problem-... and it doesnt' even get too cold down here in the sunshine state.i'm gonna experiment w/ something, when i get my new pulleys. i'm gonna get my new pulleys sandblasted (on the side where the belt makes contact). i'm hopeing that the gritty-ness will prvide extra grip on the belt and thus stop the belt squeal. i'll let you know how it works out (whenever i can get my hands on a set of pulleys).

bumpers...

i know there are more with underdrive crank pulleys...

knowing that people with underdrive crank pulleys and even stock ps pulleys will elminate the underdriving from the equation.
