hey i just swapped in a stage 3 gripforce clutch and it acts kindov wierd. when i first installed it it was working fine, after about 200 miles it started to shake when i tried to take off slow, i thought it was just the clutch breaking in. kept going and the shakes went away but then at about 1200 miles i was doing some "quick driving" when it made a thud noise and pedal pressure just about doubled. i stopped (i was in a parkinglot) and checked it out, not that i would be able to see much but i did notice that the clutch lever, when the clutch was fully engaged, did not go all the way to the stopping point. i'm 99% possitive i installed the clutch correctly. when i tried to push it back (to see what it would do) it made a chattering noise like the arm was rubbing against the pressure plate. and the shakeing is now different from before, before the shakes were long violent jults. but now they are more quick vibrations, and they only happen if i try to take off from a start under 2000 rpms, or when i downshift.

i hope this situation makes sense to someone (the problem makes no sense to me)

Seems like it started out as normal chattering you get from a 6 puck clutch, which is normal. but may be progressing into something not so normal, sadly the only way to really diagnose it is, to tear it back apart and inspect the setup.

Ye, clutch chatter is normal... however I dunno if the feelings you are having are more extreme than what is normal for 6 puck clutches.

Did you resurface the flywheel before you installed the new clutch, if not your flywheel was problably glazed from the last clutch you had in there and it will cause your clutch to chatter hard and greatly reduce it's life span and if you went from a standard clutch to a six puck without cutting the flywheel it will be even worse. The reason it will be worse when colder is most six puck clutches use a ceramic material that needs to heat up before they will engage smoothly and a warped or glazed flywheel will make that condition worse as well.

Fixed it! turns out that the throw out bearing was bent and wasn't pulling the pressure plate evenly. when i first installed the clutch i tried installing it on the pressure plate first instead of the trans, when i lined it up it must have not been aligned right but i did it right this time and now its all good smile.gif btw...installing the TOB on the transmission first is sooo much easier, why did I even consider the other way around? hehe, but i guess the shaking was caused from the pucks catching on the plate since it wasn't being released evenly (if that makes sense)

nice to hear when its a cheap fix, im sure if you took the tranny off it wasnt an easy fix, but cheap nonetheless
