sorry for asking so many questions about this damn thing, guys.. but, is this hard to tune? or can a novice (like myself) tune it? i've been doing some reading, and i don't wanna go screwin' up my idle or things like that.. thanks.

Well, getting it wired will be the first step (not sure if you have that done yet), but you will need some dyno time with a wideband O2 sensor to get it tuned correctly. I believe Red posted his tuned percentages on the board at one time (-17% at 6500 rpm I thought). You can only adjust at WOT, so set the throttle position (when the fuel maps kick in) low to around 70% and high to something like 90%. Otherwise, your ecu will adjust. I don't think that anyone suggests tuning it with just the seat of your pants.

i don't even have it yet.. but, if it's not TOO much of a pain in the ass, i'd like to order one by the middle of next week. I'm just trying to figure out the details before i go spending 300+ dollars on this.

i don't think it can only be adjusted at WOT. it allows you to do it at set levels from 1,000 to 8,000 rpm.

You are confusing rpm with throttle position. You adjust percentages (+/- 50%) at certain rpms, but the maps you create only kick in at preset throttle postions, ie: when you get to WOT. If you do it before that, you are still in closed loop and the ecu will adjust for what you have changed and you will see no benefit. You only want to adjust when the ecu is in open loop, that is when the injectors are dumping LOTS of fuel.

Now, I see that you have an auto, so I don't know what kind of gains you will see since you spend less time at the high rpms where there is a large excess of fuel, but from what I understand, there seems to be lots of extra fuel everywhere, so it couldn't hurt.

Have you searched TSR for "s-afc"? There is a lot of info on this board and I am sure that this has been covered. There are many on the board that have done this, they would be the best to talk to about this subject. I, however, will help with what I can.
