Default wires melted

I just relized that my K&N filter is leaning up against my Positive Terminal on my battery..

The side of the K&N that was up agianst the battery is melted.

Also, a few wires connecting to the Positive Terminal got melted, just where the K&N was leaning..The wires go into the fuse box...
Everything seems like it is ok...Nothing blew, that i know of...

Potential Problems?

yes, the melted wire insulation could cause this problem again later if something else touches the wire/insulation. Also, the melted wires are probably "cooked" internally as well, which leads to higher electrical resistance, which can cause the problem to come back on it's own.

I suggest you at minimum cover the wires in several layers of good electrical tape, preferablly, replace the affected wiring alltogether.

Thx random

Yeah, it melted right through the insulation....

I wrapped it up with electrical tape for now..

i'll replace it in a few days..Hopefully nothing will happen..

I already had to pay around $1000 or so cause my car needed to be rewired, i fried tons of wires due to a sensor wrapped around some metal piece...
blah blah blah
