Default Replacing the horns

Should I disconnect the battery first when removing the stock horns and putting new ones in? I got some water in them and they sound pretty bad, so Im planning to order better horns to replace the stock ones. Just dont want to kill my ear drums when I put the new ones in, so asking to see what steps are needed do it. Thanks for the help.
