You understand no battery will love sub-freezing temperatures, but Optima makes some of the best batteries you will find at a regular auto parts store.

Like stocker said people usually recommend Optima.

I have a 52Ah -small- battery (60Ah is recommended), because of the controller for my LPG installation. Haven't had any issues for the past 5 years. I do run amps and the car has been left outside throughout the winter - which was quite harsh the last two years (so the car was a lot at sub freezing temperatures). The battery (Cartrend I think) was one of the better tested batteries at the time though (Stiftung Warentest, TÜV, ADAC and others). None of those tests found the Optima batteries to be better.

Even if an Optima would have fitted in my case I would not have bought it, because of the cost/benefit ratio.
