Hmmm ... I have an idea of where this is goin to go ... BUT ... how would this work
In a situation where you want low end torque and wide open top end power.
http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/qtec.htm
then vent could be closed throught 1st / 2nd gear for maximum pull then hit the switch to open it up in 3rd for maximum top end.
Loud as hell I'm sure but ... would it work?

yeah, but watch the flow of the exhaust in the gif they have.
when the butterfly is closed, the exhaust tries to go out that way, then gets backed up. i see why this would work, but when the valve is closed, wouldn't it actually hinder performance, creating backpressure?

old school hot rodders have been doing this for years. and even if it gives back pressure when i't closed it doeesn't matter casue the back pressure would give you your torque down low....then when it's open it would give it up top.

Yeah, this is old school stuff. I knew a guy had one on his 82 camero with a Cherry Bomb welded to the 'open' side so it would be below the 90 db limit for highway travel so he wouldn't get hassled by the cops. hehe, the muffler was right under the passenger seat and when he switched the valved (it was actually a cable pull thing on the dash like an old manual choke) it made the floor and seat and everything vibrate and holy crap was it loud.
No 4 banger is going to sound like the clips on the website though, nothing sounds like a V8 with open pipes.
