Power Surge From Accidental Grounding?
Well today when I back from skool i hadda back up to let my sister car out and while i was backing up all the electrical components dash, radio ect went off for a half sec then came back on. Cel came on for the half sec, but i though i just almost stalled it nothing mutch. Then later on today when i went to work it happened again when i was turning into my work and this time i knew it wast me stallin it. Got out poped the hood and wiggled some thing, everything seemed fin till when i wiggled my Cold air pipe,(now this is where i find out)once i wiggle the cai sllightly it makes a big spark off my uncoveered positive terminal cus i lost the cover randomely. i always thougt it was ok but i guess not. was this the cause of my power surges? is it bad to be driving with it uncovered? I taped it up temporarly with electrical tape.
uhh.. YEAH!! Definitely don't let any metal touch the power terminal, EVER. Wanna have a little excitement in your pants? Get 2guage wire and touch it to both the car chassis and the power terminal... you might not wake up!
Now there a burnt spot on my CAI. 02.gif Ill mcguyver a new cover, my autoparts store dosent sell any that fit.
fixed my problem, couldent find a terminal cover that would fit the positive end, but I taped up the part that was rubbing, and the battery was loose so I moved it over and tightend the crap out of it. The terminal is nowhere near the cai now.

sounds like a nice way to cause problems with every system in your car. but how was it sparking? there is no solid connection to a ground, all the connections are made with the rubber/whatever couplers right?

I use the couplers to couple the pipes together. Mine butt against eachother. Also, my lower intake piping is connected to the chassis by a bolt which suspends the lower piping outside the engine bay in the wheel well.
how do you think the CAI is bolted down? I hope it's not just a hanging tube that rocks back and forth with the engine, that'd make it easier to understand how it touched the battery terminal
wow... I can see how this could touch. Turn your positive terminal connector around so it's sticking out over the battery, not off the edge. Wrap it heavily with electrical tape.
