Default Plastic intakes

Why is it that most intake companies (AEM, Injen, Weapon R, etc) all make their intakes out of metal tubing? Wouldnt you get better performance from a hard plastic intake because plastic does a better job against heat soak than metal does? dunno.gif

Im not saying they dont exist because I know K&N makes plastic intakes. But 85-90% of the intake manufacturers out there make them out of metal, whether its name brand or not. Maybe its an R&D cost thing and thats why most companies offer metal tubing, but to me...it would seem like you would get better performance out of a plastic intake and could increase price a little more to offset the additional cost of having plastic versus metal. dunno.gif Maybe I'm wrong in this thought process.

I myself have an AEM intake thats heat wrapped so it doesnt matter for me, however if the option was there I would have purchased a plastic one over a metal any day of the week. smile.gif
