- [*] Improper tightening of fuel tank filler fuel cap[*] Fuel vent valve failed[*] Purge line or vapor line clogged[*] Broken seal in fuel tank, purge line or vapor line[*] Evaporative emission purge solenoid failed[*] Evaporative emission ventilation solenoid failed[*] Fuel tank pressure sensor failed[*] Engine coolant temperature sensor failed[*] Intake air temperature sensor failed[*] Power steering pressure switch failed.[*] Incorrect fuel (water, alcohol, etc. mixed) used[/list]
For the other one, you either have an open electrical connection, or you need a new 02 sensor.
http://www.worldpartsexpress.com/partlocat...amp;catalogid=2. this is a oem part.I just went thew this like a month ago.
I have the same cel right now. i examined the charcoal canister and managed to have rusted bolts holding the bracket on and had to jerry rig a new holder because both bolts broke. there is one valve on the canister and there is another one in the engine bay. The one in the engine bay is the one that i think is bad but had not had a time to take it off and clean it out to see if i really have to replace it. looking at that site if its only 26 dollars then it may be just worth it to replace it.
As for where to find it, look for the fuel filter and then at its right next to it to the right.

most likely it's the purge solenoid or a leak in the evap gas.
1. check your gas cap, it might have a leak. most likely you could have one of the recall gas caps in the 97's but that's usually not a problem. that recall was discovered in sometime in 1999-2000 so i'm not sure.
2. your evaporation cannister might be clogged, or your purge solenoid clogged. clogs in the solenoid are common in all cars, new solenoid costs like $60. i'd send you mine (i have a good one) if i could find it.
your evap cannister is in the rear right just behind the side of the bumper. however, if your tiburon was a first gen i could help you out but i have never dealt with a second generation before. hyundai relocated the cannister there realizing that people put cold air intakes up front. you can also unplug the solenoid and test the socket for power with a voltmeter. you can also take out the solenoid and unclog it yourself that is if the clog is in the solenoid.
just be sure not to take anything apart as one little alteration can ruin everything.

99% of the time it's a loose or improperly mounted gas cap.
Go pull the cap off, make sure you put it on right, and then tighten it till it clicks at least 3 times.
Go reset your ECU, then make sure you put it on right next time.
I used to get it whenever my wife would fill up with gas.
