My mail is tsalis@telecom.ntua.gr
I will be glad to offer you any answers about the 1.6L BETA, since I had this for about 2 years in my car. You can do with it many things. We have many of the 1.6L BETAs turboed up to 215whp on our streets.
As for the dynosheets, when turboman posted some of his own the answer was flaming and doubting.
If you want more info about my car I WILL answer a private post...
Still waiting for an answer about TURBOMANS erasure.....

The reason there was doubt on Turboman's dyno is because it was PERFECTLY smooth and had ZERO identifying marks. There was no dyno model, there was no dyno software revision, there was no even MENTION of the vehichle that was tested.

It was simply four lines with numbers printed on it.

Even the people from Korea said it didn't look right. It was too smooth, too linear and too "basic" to appear as a true dyno sheet.

If you truly have nothing to hide, then you shouldn't worry about all the questions about your dyno sheet. Why are you so secrative? Just post them!

Here Lantra and Tasos, lemme help you out with that Dyno sheet that Turboman put up:

http://www.teamsr.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.c...c;f=23;t=000168

Here are a few of the better comments:
QUOTE
Random:I just wanna say that those lines are WAY TOO SMOOTH for a real dyno. If any one looks at bat lords dyno's or any of the dyno's that have been posted at Fxtreme, here or HP.com....those lines are way too smooth.
If these dyno's are real, they have been edited to "smooth" out the engine. In reality, I think they are just plain drawn in. I think they are "marketing" dyno's for "possible" gains using a kit, but they are certinaly not a "real" dyno from the same car in 3 different states of tune.
QUOTE
Cheuk in Seoul:That is not a dynojet graph.
It also doesn't look like a Bosch graph.
What it looks like is a graph off of one of those computer ENGINE dyno programs... which calculates hp and torque based on engine input settings... displacement, head, compression ratio, boost.
QUOTE
SickYellowG60:The main reason that people do care about the claims is that people like Random and Red have put in money and time while modifing their cars. They study the modifications and this leads them know why they have hp and what they could do to improve it. It isn't the same if some one just says "I have this much hp, period". The guy is trying to say that gaining hp is easy, cheap, and you can do it with nothing more then bubble gum. It is not true, and it hurts the chance of truth.
QUOTE
Kidd Supreme:I think the point DJ that Red is trying to make is that if a person is allowed to impart bull**** knowledge, he is doing a disservice to the people on the board. It comes down to this: If you can't back up all the B.S. you state on a website, be prepared to get blasted in the worst way.
The funny thing is, Turboman said he would re-scan his dynosheet so that it DID include the manufacturer of the dyno used... And he said he'd post it in about a week.

Well, here we are like 4 months later, and no re-posted dyno sheet. Gee, was he maybe lying? rolleyes.gif

Etep,

The picture you posted, what is that from? The rating "BHP" and the (Corrected) annotation at the bottom refer to estimated flywheel horsepower, NOT wheel horsepower. BHP = brake horsepower measured at the flywheel, which cannot be DIRECTLY measured unless you have the engine out on a dyno stand.

If that is indeed Tasos' dyno sheet, you can already see that he's not making 200WHP -- look at the dyno table. Middle column, three or four sections down... See "Pwheel: 141.9HP" and "Pwheel: 167.8HP"? The first one is the ACTUAL number he put on the ground. The second one is SAE corrected for altitude, barometric pressure, temperature. The 201.xxx number is ESTIMATED crank horsepower derived from the SAE corrected wheel horsepower number.

So he put 141 to the ground wherever he lives. I put 134 to the ground in Albuquerque, with 100k miles on the odometer, also 5800 feet above sea level, UNCORRECTED. So if he's making 201 crank horsepower, I must be at around 195...

At least we know this is a real dyno.

Got it from here.

I have no knowledge in dyno. Just thought I share with you what I saw in the Korean websites.

Click on the second clickable column in the above links and you will see there mod lists.

Hey Red, Turboman showed up at Hyundai Performance (slaaging TSR) by the way. He now conveniently no longer has his Turbo anymore! I guess this is so has an excuse to not provide dynos or pics. Altough he still maintains that he did have it and took it off because he blew three engines. All I have to say is if you have the money to buy three engines and have a turbo mounted three times... what the hell are you doing driving a '97 Hyundai?

Hmm, is this the same turboman tho? I thought he was from Greece, which means either he moved or you guys had a meet somewhere outside the states...

Just curious.

unless there are some more unlisted mods on it, another reason to say that ain't t.s.'s dyno is the big fat REAR WHEEL DRIVE on the bottom of the text part...
