Oh no!!! Here we go again!!! If what you say is true lets all quit this forum, everybody lies!!!! Are we a bunch of liars??? So you are saying Hyundai FIA kit car homologated at 265bhp is a lie!!! If everybody lie, mmmm are you lying too????? I would like to know what would RPW in AUS would say about your comments. Well if we all lie I hope the % is across the board and we are still relatively competitive!!!!

No,
Be a realist and just do some thinking on your own.

I've seen many a person trust a tuner at their word, spend $20K and end up with a fragile, underperforming engine.

Also I read about that rally Tibby. It is supposed to be an undersquared engine. How much boring and destroking and decking did they have to do get it to that state? Is it still a Beta?

You are right a lot of mods to reach the power!! But tell me when is not a Beta anymore?? I want the power even if its not a Beta anymore. I presume someone could say that if you install headers the engine is not a Beta anymore. I guess that issue is philosophical and not really relevant, we want the power!!! But Cheuk is right, a lot of designing, machining, testing etc. and it does not come cheap!! and you are also right in that one can be fooled quite easily!!! Welcomed Cheuk I will talk to you later!!!! Have a nice one (day for you, night for me)????

Sorry, Mario... you guys do sound a little tired.

I was just trying to get the people on the board to be a little critical and skeptical, if they are really serious about tuning... it will save them time and money in the future.
If someone had told me when I was starting to modify my cars... It would have saved a lot of money and headaches.

On second thought I guess with enough money 265hp (225WHEEL hp) is doable. But I'm guessing atleast $20K (that's US $ not the worthless AU$) for the motor. Some of the boys here have been working on an undersquare motor but the machining shops are not that reliable.

Yes you are right I am tired. There are about 4 discussions on this same issue on the board and some of us have been in them for a while. I realize my remarks were not polite, sorry! I apologize. But we agree, it will take a good amount of money to achieve that kind of power. Your advice is well taken I have also been burned many times!
You are estimating about 15% trans loss. Is this a ballpark figure or would you say it is accurate for the Tiburon. Is it an estimated % or you have data that proves this? This piece of info seems to be handled with a lot of ease without maybe realizing the amount of work to gain say 10whp and 5% of 200hp means 10whp lost. Any help on this issue???

The 15% drivetrain loss is a guestimate for a manual tranny / diff / tires and the bearings on the rollers of a Dynojet inertial chassis dyno. The drivetrain losses are higher for eddy current dynos and automatic transmissions.

Since most of the people on the board are on the US mainland and are most familiar with Dynojets... I found it best to refer to wheel hp numbers in those terms.

look you either have knowledge about something one of two ways...
you can have knowledge because you have personally done it yourself
or you can have knowledge based on someone elses authority and because they say so.that is being a realist

Hey guys chill out...
To see "in reality" how powerful Tasos' Coupe is, we have gone to a closed (from traffic) road, with his car and me with a 215 HP Saab 93 Turbo Aero.
First I have drove the Saab...and then Tasos Coupe... and I don't care the **** if it has exactly 190WHP or the modifications will last "forever" (or it will break) but the car is almost as fast as a 2.0L Saab 93 Turbo with 215HP "NO DOUBT"!!!!
They had almost the same 0-100 Kmh (from the same driver -me- ) and I know the cars and how to drive them by heart. (I own a 1.6L Coupe and my father the Saab)

YES Red you have right about the spinning (it is probably the 1.6 transmission) but the feeling of the acceleration and especially of the TORQUE is magnificent.

The problems with Tasos car is the small stock tyres and allow wheels, and the stock suspension.

But now that he has changed the tyres the car doesn't spinn so much and it has a better feeling.

Finally I don't know much about mechanical stuff and specifications, all I know is what I drive.

Thanks
