Ok, I did some searches and have not found the info I need. I purchased the OBX Power Pulley Kit and the OBX Crank Pulley and need to know:

1. If I need new belts.

2. What those sizes/part numbers are.

3. What beer goes best with this mod!

I have a 1999 RD1 Tiburon installing all OBX brand pulley's. From reading multiple threads, they should fit with no problems. I just need to know if I need new belts and what those sizes are. Thanks!

You wont need new belts to install the Alt and PS pulley. When you do the crank pulley you will need to replace the AC belt and the Alt belt because they need to be smaller. I am not sure what size exactly the OBX ones need because I have all GIM pulleys. Since you have to take the Alt belt off to do the Alt pulley and then also for the Crank pulley it is easiest if you do them both at the same time. I am not sure how the OBX crank pulley fits but on mine the key way was not tall enough. A small file will be able to fit it but if you need to do this make sure to only increase the height of the key and not the width. Your keyway can be too tall and not hurt anything however if it is too wide the force of the crank will tear through the aluminum pulley in no time. Just FYI.

MGD, the king of cheap beerss laugh.gif Well, I actually just got my belts changed about 13,000 miles ago, so they are still very new. I would rather keep these belts on if they will fit. No sense in replacing them if they are this new. But, if they will not fit, then I'll be getting new belts regardless.

Sooo......

Will the OEM belts work with the OBX Power pulleys and Crank Pulley on the RD1's

The Saga Continues.......( ninja.gif Bum, bum, bumbum, bum bumbum bumbum bumbum.)

See my post above my man. You do have to replace the AC and Alt belt (for the Crank Pulley). But if you only do the other two (Alt pulley and PS pulley) then you dont need new belts. The PS pulley and Alt pulley are the same size as stock just lighter. The Crank Pulley is both lighter and small thus being an Underdrive Pulley tongue.gif

maybe someone with the OBX pulleys can tell you the exact size of the AC/Alt belt. If not just measure it or take your crank pulley to a shop that carries belts, then guess and check.

btw, if your PS pump is shot I have a good condition PS pump unit w/o belt for sale. You could replace yours while installing pulleys if you happened to need one.....

UltraTibby, sorry man, you must have posted while I was replying to the first comment.

Cool, well, does anyone with OBX pulleys and crank remember the sizes/part numbers for the belts?

Patreezy: Thanks man but my PS Pump seems to be doing fine. Appreciate it, though smile.gif

Basically what he meant was that the ALT ot PS belt does not go to the crank pulley. Thus does not have to be changed. Where the PS to Crank, and Alt to Crank need to be changed due to the smaller crank pulley.

Yeah exactly except that it is AC to Crank and Alt to Crank. The PS belt goes to the water pump (behind where the alt pulley you replace). So the PS belt size NEVER changes only the ALT and AC belts do.
