Hey every one!!

I finally just had part of my exhaust installed.I bought an OBX mid-pipe,and a Magnaflow muffler with Magnaflow tip.Let me tell ya, it sounds freak'n great!!!!!! I was worried it'd sound like the A-typical rice burner, but it doesn't.Nice deep growl. It is a bit loud in the interior at certain rpm's,but I think some dynamat/foam in the trunk will handle that.

As for performance, I notice a definite increase in upper end power. My 2k Tib is an automatic, and before at 80mph I could not make the trans kick down. Now I can!! It's beginning to feel like my turbo beetle.Anywho, next weekend I'll be putting on the ssautochrome 4-2-1 headers.Hopefully they increase my bottom end like they say.I also hope it doesn't make the sound become nasty.Just have to wait and see. 8)

One thing I have noticed, and maybe some one can help me.After I got home and parked in the drive way, I reved it to listen to the note some more.It seems that I have some lite backfire on initial rev,and after the rev's come back down.Any thoughts on this?? TIA!!

odessitpashka..................I may have to do that, I don't know yet.I'd rather wait and see just how bad it is.

djnevamind................ Actually, I got the OBX mid pipe from a guy on HA.com.He sold it to me for $90 + shipping. Then I got the Magnaflow muffler and tip from an E-bay store.Muffler $55 shipped, and the tip I think was $25 or so.I got all this at a good deal,I think. My father is a 30+ year VW mechanic and I was going to have him install the entire exhaust. But when we looked it over this morning, he realized there was going to be welding involved. He's not to up on that  Anyway as most of you know, the 2k tib has a retarded catalytic set up.The cat mounted to the manifold has an o2 sensor. The 2nd o2 sensor is between the 1st and 2nd cat.So when you put headers on you loose #1 cat. The #2 cat becomes primary. Now, you have to have an o2 bung mounted to the inlet side of the new mid-pipe, which is at the output of the cat.

Why the hell did hyundai:
(a) Use 2 cat converters?
(B) Not put the #2 o2 sensor at the output of the #2 cat???????

The way they set it up, the ECU is only looking at 1(the #1) cat converter.Makes no sense to me

Now this brings me to my next point. The SS Autochrome 4-2-1 has an o2 bung in one of the header pipes, as it should. But why the hell did they bother to put an 02 sensor in the down pipe?????? They must have known there'd be no use in it due to the fact you have to eliminate the #1 cat in order to instal the header.

Next point. The OBX mid-pipe.Why didn't they put an o2 bung in the inlet?????? They must have known that you'd have to put the #2 o2 sensor there, after removing #1 cat. AAAhhhhh!!! But, they probably didn't do this cause you wouldn't need it unless you put in headers. But it would have been nice if engineers would actually think ahead.

The other problem my father had.Since this was a mid-pipe, it was not set up for/with a muffler. The factory muffler has a pipe at the inlet which bends up an over the rear axle and connects to the outlet of the mid-pipe.Well my father doesn't have a bender let alone a mandrel bender. The exhaust work they do at his shop is fairly limited to just normal repair.

Went to Meineke initially to just have them bend me a piece of pipe to connect the mid-pipe to the muffler and weld an o2 bung to the inlet of the mid-pipe.Then the plan was to let the old man do the rest. The muffler dude told me he could bend that piece, but we may have trouble getting things to line up.Now, he may have been telling me that cause he wanted to do the install his self or he was being honest.I deceided that it sound reasonable what he was telling me so they did the cat back for me as well as welded in the o2 sensor. With tax $295, and now that parts a done deal. The guy did a pretty damn good job on the whole thing.Only part I'm a little unhappy with is the tip is leaning a little toward the right side of the car. When I watched him do it it looked straight. But then it's hard to tell when it's up in the air.I don't know, maybe I can have it re-adjusted.

Sorry for the long post.Didn't mean to type a novel, but it just started flowing.Ya know?

so how does it sound now?
here is some answers on your questions
you could use 1st o2 bung that's located in engine bay, that's what im doing, and then extend second o2 sensor's cables and put it into the new o2 bung which must be located after the cat approx 18in. or you could use o2 bung that's located at your flexpipe and then again extend the wires from 2nd one and plug it into a new bung.
second cat is for emissions and cleaner air smile.gif

if you have anymore questions feel free to ask, i hope i helped ya out a little

that is all I was going to do.. extend the wires... I was also going to add a THIRD bung for an air/fuel gage.. I would rather do that than tap into the stock wiring and take a chance on messing something up
