A code P0442 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
Other small leak in EVAP system
Faulty vent o-ring seal

Try tightening your gas cap... fing02.gif

lmao its funny u mention the gas cap thing... cuz i made that mistake with the gas cap on my last car (99 jetta) and felt like a complete ass when my neighbor came over and told me to pop the gas door... i looked at him like he was a pyscho... he gave it three extra clicks and it went away... and i ended up having to buy him a 6pack of corona's.

lol thanks... ill double check anyway but i filled up AFTER the light came on.

Sometimes it does not go away right away. I think I had the light come on for this before and it took a while for it to recognize the cap was on tight.

I'll take the 6-pack though nana.gif
