i finally got the header i bought from KAW installed. there is an o2 bung on one of the runners so i bought a bolt and used JB weld to keep it in there. well, i was driving down the highway earlier this afternoon and the bolt came out. i got home and put the other part of the bolt in and used quite a bit more JB weld this time, hopefully it'll hold. i noticed a considerable change in the responsiveness of the car. now i just need to get a highflow cat and custom cat-back made up. here are some pictures...

how hard was it to get your manifold bolts off?

the manifold bolts were a little sticky, but that was the easiest part of the whole damn install. the bolts that held the flex pipe to the cat were the hardest part. some people posted that they used a grinder and took off part of the flange so it would clear the power steering pump, i just took the whole bracket off, put the header on, then put the bracket back on. it wasn't hard at all really.

you gotta be kidding me.... you JB welded a bolt in your header... lmao.gif

go buy an o2 plug and do it right.

fyi, JB weld is 'good' to 500° F... your exhaust gets to about 1500° F...

he's right. JBWeld's website says it can sustain constant temps up to 500 degrees.

These were temps taken from a VW Bus showing temps up to 700 degrees. I wouldn't doubt ours getting hotter than that, especially on the headers

we all learn from our mistakes. i'll look into the o2 plug. if i don't do that, then i'll take it to work and have them weld it shut.

just do a quick search for o2 plug, they are really cheap.

even a good hardware store might have something with the right threads.

i took the header off today during lunch and had the welders at work plug the o2 bung on the runner. i still need to grind it down a little to make it flush, but it's sealed now and working fine.

maybe i'm just imagining it, but it just seems a little bit more responsive in the lower RPM range.
