MSD DIS-2 Ignition .. pics
I just wanted to show everybody the MSD DIS-2 that I recently installed on my XD...

And here is a DIY:

Also, since the RD tib has the same dial-coil pack as the XD, this mod will also work the same on the RD tibs..

Your engine department is very clean...good job..the MSD gives a nice touch.
Well, looks good is all it does... because It has no power gains whatsoever...
here is a dyno that I just did TODAY ... there is no gain over the previous dyno without the MSD...
in this dyno, the only difference between the 2 runs is that I ran with the stock ecu tuning on one, then ran with -4% fuel with the fuel tuner and gained 2 whp and 2 ft.lb wtq from 5000 rpms to redline but thats it...
I still did not gain any power at all with the msd... I figure this thing is meant for boosted engines that have lots more air/ fuel inside of the cylinders...

Did you advance ignition at all or change the gap on your plugs at all to take advantage of the better spark?
there is no need to modify the gap when running NA ..
the MSD will make the spark thicker and stronger on its own without any gap change... smile.gif

Does the car run better cold now? Does it run better at all?
How much did this run?

Hey Redz.. not to go off topic.. but check out his battery.. that is the 675cca battery you were asking about.
And yes.. I can see why the MSD would not make a difference.. however, on a boosted or higher compression engine, where the spark can be "blown out", it might make all the difference in the world.
And remembering back to the failed attempt at installing the Coil on Plug system.. didn't they say that it worked perfectly with the MSD ignition, but fried the stock?

Yeah, he had an MSD ignition and was running it, but found out it wouldn't work on a MSD-less engine. The MSD should make some difference on the Tib though... does it have an advance as well as a retard? I know it retards spark... advancing it might scrounge a horsey or two out.
