Monster tach
#23
all u need to do is buy a tach that can read 2cyl!! VDO makes a few with a shiftlight. To tap into the oem tach signal, u remove ur gauge cluster, look at the back of the tach, and tap into the wire. i have done this myself and took me 10 min. I did it to an accent L that had no tach(the tach signal is behind the temp gauge harness, second wire from right) Do not tap into ur ecu, there is a higher chance of messing somthing up.

Well i pliced into the blue ire with the yellow stripe and everything seems to work fine, except for the fact that the needle is kinda shaky and also it seems like sometimes the aftermarket tach cant reach 4000 rpm. I am gonna drive it around for a bit and see how it is. I'll keep ya posted.

ok this is going to go out to all the people with tachs, what wires did you clip on the back of the monster tach, and what did you connect the others one too, which wires, mine wont go over 4k rpm

HEres the deal. I wired it to the blue wire with the yellow stripe. It idles right and matches the rpms correctly but sometimes when it gets around 4k the needle jumps back down to around 3k and kinda bounces. i have only clipped the brown wire and reattached the blue wire running it as a 2 pulse. After talking to Autometer they told me to clip both the brown and blue but when i did the aftermarket tach read that it was iding around 3k which is not correct. I hope that i dont have to switch wires cause i have already spliced into the blue one but if i have to then i will.
