Mods that you can feel the difference..
A Ported, Polished & Milled Cylinder head + polished piston heads, provided me with a very noticable power gain at about 3500 RPM, it just kicks. I did this mod to my Tib No. 1, which is a daily driven '98 2.0L Automatic, w/ a hayden tranny cooler, custom cold-air intake, 4-2-1 headers and full 2.25" exhaust system.
Being that the tranny is auto, off the line its not so noticable, yet once you are going the engine wants more go, however, the tranny somewhat says no go! Regardless this mod is not a total loss if you later decide to go with a performance torque converter + 75 shot nitrous set-up, which are the future plans for this tib. I am totally please with this mod cause it really made the engine wake-up and that's that I still have no BBTB or the air-ram intake manifold (in the list of things to get).
Here is my cost break-down doing all the work myself:
Valves/springs/retainers removal and install = $30.00 (machine Shop)
0.035" Milled = $25.00 (Machine Shop)
Head-Set = $100.00 (my cost)
Redline Assembly Lube = $8.00
Synthetic Oil/Mobile 1 Filter/Antifreeze = $35.00
Total Cost = $198.00
I have a valve spring removal tool "C" clamp type, but it just didn't work with the deep-set valve design of the Hyundai cylinder heads, so I had to have the machine shop do it. Random, recommended a way to take them out using a 5/8" long socket, but by then I had already paid to have them removed. I know better for next time though!

I was wondering a bit more about the 1.8 cam, i also have a 2001 tib and can install that myself easily so would that be a good route for me as well, even if im also boosting it? My mods are in my sig. ty
